nationally recognized artist with a strong background in traditional impressionism. During his tenure at the prestigious American Academy of Art in Chicago, he was the recipient of numerous scholarships, grants and awards. He holds degrees from the Academy in both fine and commercial art. Acutely aware of the delicate hues created by light, Richard strives to render, in his words, "a visual poem" with each painting. He is philosophical about his work, always keeping in mind his favorite quote: "Art is the representation of that which the mind can imagine - but only the heart knows to be true." Whether rendered in oil, charcoal or watercolor, Richard's works are much sought after by collectors, who are captivated by his atmospheric color theories, warm sensitive approach, and dynamic juxtapositions of color and composition.
