Jerry Mann
Colorist expressions of the American
Southwest
and European shores.
began painting and studying art as a "fringe"
artist while at Ohio University in the 60s. The subsequent pursuit of a scientific
international career afforded him the exceptional opportunity to experience beauty from
the jungles of Brazil to the soft gray environs of Ireland. Jerry's paintings reflect
these windows. Still painting in Europe, Georgia and New Mexico, his main themes alternate
from the villages of European life to the mountains of New Mexico to the savannas of
Georgia where he also has a studio.
Jerryis a rapid painter, generally in acrylic and he likes to carry initial emotion of
expression to excite and involve the viewer. Painting is a journey of emotion and
fulfillment as the work develops. The interplay of color with resting points for the eye
in the work conveys simplicity yet strength of the subject statement. He does not believe
in recording of subject but rather interpretation is the essential expression of
art. Jerry proposes a never-ending experimentation and expression.
